Frequently Asked Questions

1. What programs does the club offer for children?

The club offers two primary programs for children aged 6 and older:

  • Icebreakers: A program focused on building confidence. It is held in two sessions (January–February and February–March) on either Saturdays or Sundays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Trailblazers: A more intensive program running from January to March. It offers options for Saturday or Sunday sessions, or a combined Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

2. Is this a “learn to ski” program?

No. PASC is centered on creating skilled skiers and is not a learn-to-ski program. Participants must already be able to safely ski the Gold or Hornet runs (depending on the program) at a constant speed and in control. For beginners, the club recommends booking lessons directly with Mount Baldy Ski Area instructors.

3. Can my child switch between Saturday and Sunday sessions?

Yes, switching is often possible (if necessary), provided there are enough participants and the coaches approve. The club requires a minimum of five skiers to form a group.

4. What are the costs associated with registration?

Program fees are as follows:

  • Icebreakers 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (1 day per week, 5 days per session): $200 per session
  • Trailblazers 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (1 day per week, 10 days in total): $750
  • Trailblazers 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (2 days per week, 20 days in total): $970

Note: These prices do not include required divisional fees for AOA, ACA, and LSDA. There are additional events that your skier can participate in outside of session dates.

5. What are the mandatory divisional fees?

In addition to club fees, parents must pay insurance and divisional fees which vary by age:

  • U8: AOA $53.12, ACA $64.85, LSDA $45.00 = $162.97
  • U10: AOA $53.12, ACA $64.85, LSDA $60.00 = $177.97
  • U12: AOA $91.48, ACA $108.15, LSDA $60.00 = $259.63
  • U14/U16/U18: AOA $91.48, ACA $146.15, LSDA $60.00 = $297.63
  • FIS: AOA $159.37, ACA $146.15, $60.00, FIS $100 = $465.52

All participants must be registered with Alpine Ontario (AOA) for insurance purposes before they can participate in any club activities

6. Are lift passes and equipment included in the fees?

No. Lift passes and Mount Baldy memberships are not included in the program costs. Parents are also responsible for ensuring their children have the necessary equipment, including a proper ski helmet. Contact Dave Bradley at dave.bradley1998@gmail.com for equipment recommendations.

7. Can I pay via e-transfer?

Yes. While the club uses Uplifter/SnowReg for registration, you may request to pay by e-transfer by contacting the club directly.

8. What are “Try-It Days”?

Try-It Days are sessions for first-time registrants to meet coaches and get a feel for the program. The cost is $25, and if you choose to register for the full season afterward, this fee is applied toward your total program cost.

This year we have Try-It Days scheduled for December 18th, 19th and 30th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
